    Here's the first of 4 shots taken of the Midwest Genelogy Center in Independence, Missouri.

    While the address is 3440 Lee's Summit Road in Independence at the junction of that road and Kiger Rd, it's just north of 35th St.

    in addition to access to Ancestry.Com the MGC's brochure lists "over 100,000 reference books, 20,000 circulating volumes, and more than 60,000 microfilm rolls."

 

 

    While I've not yet visited any state libraries such as the Sutro Branch of the Calif. State Library in San Francisco, the MGC's resources far exceed anything I have seen elsewhere.

 

 

 

 

 

    In addition to college yearbooks from colleges in the central mid-west, the specificity of some of the books was surprising; eg., The Incidence of Venereal Disease Amongst Lewis & Clark Expedition Members.
    If you have an interest in genealogy, even if the focus of your research is not in the Mid-West, I strongly recommend a visit to the MGC if you're in or near Independence.
