KJHy Ranch, Hyampom, CA

Lake Mendocino, CA

The most important feature to the 62 acres which cousin Ken & Jaana Mukala Lemmon own near Hyampom, CA.

Here's the runoff from the full water tank on 26 July. An old-timer said the spring was called "Hidden Springs" -- perhaps by the indians who lived in the area for some time.

One of the many wildflowers in the area.

The start of what will be a two-story house.

Not sure how many different kinds of wood are in the pile, but certainly there is both pine (mainly from ponderosa pines) and oak; there might also be some apple trunks and branches.

Panning right, we see a mixed forest of pines, oaks, and perhaps a few Douglas first. In the forground is a marshy area which might include some of the runoff from the spring.

Panning farther right, it becomes clear that the marshy area is fairly sizeable.

Yet farther to the right are some fruit trees Ken planted recently. If memory serves, they include a persimmon and a fig tree. [The fig leaves will come in handy if anyone decides to "go native." :-)>]

Walking toward the newly-planted fruit trees.

The Power Shed, where a bank of solar cells likely provides "juice" for a cell phone.

Dennis Lemmon, Ken's older brother, looks on while his lady friend Gisele takes a photo of the sweat peas.

Another shot of Dennis and Gisele near the ferns, blackberries, and sweet peas. [There seemed to be sweet peas wherever there were blackberries -- so the birds must be helping spread both of them.]

Poppies which were more yellow than orange, but which provided nector for a bumblebee.

[Click once to zoom in; press ESC to return here.] The existing house with an aluminum roof, a barn/tool shed under a large tree, and Dennis's small pickup in front of what existed on 26 July of a new house.
