Monterey to Cambria to Paso Robles, CA

San Simeon State Park CG, CA

 

    Because the fog hugged the coast on Sunday 23 Sep I was unable to take any photos while driving from Aptos to Monterey to Plaskett Creek; continued on to Cambria the next day.     However, you'll find links below to some of the things I passed on my southward journey down the Cabrillo Highway -- aka CA1 or SR1.     The photo to the right is of the small bay at the mouth of Plaskett Creek.

 

 

    I walked north a bit and took another shot at the Plaskett Creek Bay.

 

 

 

 

 

 

    While the Central California Coast is not as rocky as the Oregon Coast (photos of which you'll find in several of the posts made during 2011), there are spots where some rocks remain.

 

 

 

 

    Just south of Ragged Point I took several photos since the coast to the south was less mountainous as I got closer to San Simeon.

 

 

 

 

 

 

    Panning left one can see that the fog was still burning off.

 

 

 

 

 

 

    Panning left again, this beach looks like a good place to surf; but perhaps the waves are not big enough.

 

 

 

 

    The sandy beach not visible in the above shot. It appears one might be able to sunbathe au naturel -- unless one is worried about photographers with telephoto lenses!

 

 

 

 

 

    Along the route over the costal hills from Cambria to Paso Robles. [Click once to enlarge; press ESC to return here.] Note the fog still clinging to the coast.

 

 

 

 

 

    Panning left, this looks like cow country -- though there were vineyards and citrus orchards closer to Cambria.

 

 

 

 

 

 

    Panning left again, all of the hills have a well-rounded look except for the one near the center of the photo.
