Cedar Breaks National Monument, UT

Cedar Breaks National Monument, UT

San Pedro Library, Albuquerque, NM

As I drove south on US89 from Panguitch, UT, toward Kanab I decided to visit Cedar Breaks Natl Monument on UT14. I neglected to check the US Park Service website while parked near the Panguitch Library. (The librarian had given me their passcode just before she closed the previous evening.) The farther west I drove the more snow I saw.

The photo above as well as this one are of a reservoir on a tributary of Mammoth Creek visible from UT14. [All Cedar Breaks NM photos taken on 12 Apr 2014.]

This shot shows the dam. Had I checked the NPS website [see links below] I would have learned that the monument normally does not open until late May or early June.

If you look closely, you'll see a large RV in the lower left of the above photo. Either they too did not check the NPS website or they're snow-bunnies at the Monument for some frolicking in the white stuff.
