Big Lake is located in Reagan County, Texas, and is named after John H. Regan, who was a delegate to the Texas Secession Commission, served as the C.S.A. Postmaster General, and spend time in a Boston prison. Later he was a U.S. Senator. [Click once to enlarge; press ESC to return here.]
Company E of the 10th U.S. Calvary camped here in November 1878.
A memorial not only to Florene Miller Watson, who, when WWII started, was teaching men how to fly, but also to her fellow members of the Women Air Force Service Pilots group. She was in the first group of 25 women selected to ferry planes throughout the U.S., thus freeing male pilots for combat.
The Reagan County Courthouse. Note that both the U.S. and Texas flags are flying. (The only places I've seen in Texas where both flags do not fly together is at Walmart stores.)
