Guadalupe Mountains Natl Park, TX
Though I stopped in Bandera to see if its library left their WiFi on 24/7 [they do -- but you need a passcode] before I visited the LBJ Ranch, the Bandera County Courthouse is sufficiently impressive to post a bit out of sequence.
Bandera is one of the few Texas counties where the county seat is also the name of the county.

The Comanches didn't cotton with white settlers taking their land. In 1841 they waylaid a contingent of 40 Texas rangers, but were forced to retreat once their war chief was killed.
Even in 1876 the natives were still killing whites: a Bandera Deputy Sheriff as this Texas Historical Marker describes.
