LBJ Ranch State & National Park, Texas

LBJ Ranch State & National Park, Texas Freudiger RV Services*, San Angelo, TX
On a rainy 27 August 1908 Lyndon Baines Johnson was born at the home of his grandfather, Sam Ealy Johnson; a neighbor, Augusta Sauer Lindig, served as the midwife.
As he often did, LBJ had this house rebuilt or remodeled in 1964 -- perhaps so that it could be used for meetings with his Presidential Staff.

However, not everything was brought up-to-date. "Hello, Central...give me...."

And since a sign had said there was a restroom behind the house....Oops! Guess the restroom is in the barn/garage.

Yes, there is a handle on the other side where one pumps.

This plaque shows LBJ demonstrating the pump for a couple of members of his cabinet.

And when LBJ was buried, it was again raining. The Johnson Family Cemetery is located across the road from his grandfather's first house -- where Lyndon was born.

Here are some more photos &/or plaques from the LBJ State Park and Historic Site. This plaques describes the Pedernales River. [Click 1 or 2 times to enlarge; use Ctrl+ Left Arrow to return here.]

The Junction School where Lyndon learned to read at age four.

LBJ used the Junction School on 11 April 1965 as a setting for his signing of The Elementary and Secondary Education Act.

The farmhouse where LBJ's grandparents spent their final years.

A plaque including a photo of LBJ with Trinity Luthern Church in the background. While many think of President Ronald Reagan as the "Jelly Bean President," LBJ may have set the precedent.

Principal employee is Joe Haynes, a master plumber. After I totaled my air-conditioner in a parking garage near the San Angelo Library they did an excellent job replacing it with a 14x14 vent. [Had never used the A/C in the 28+ months I've been on the road.]
