After a good night's sleep at the Sisters RV Park on the eastern edge of that town prior to which I had washed half of my clothes, I washed the other half, had a propane bottle filled at $2.47/gal, and headed west toward the Cascades.
Here's a view of Mt. Washington (elevation: 7,794') looking from a Vista Point on US20W over both an old burn and, in the foreground, Suttle Lake.
And, turning to the left, here's a shot of Black Butte (elev 6,436'), which is to the north of US20W. While they are not visible in this photo, there were both boaters and wind-surfers on Suttle Lake.
Further up the road there was another Vistapoint [Yes, there seems to be disagreement among the Oregon government agencies as to whether Vista Point is 1 or 2 words] from which I got a clearer view of Mt Washington. (If memory serves, the Matterhorn in the French Alps has a similar shape.)
This plaque answers the question "Which is older; Black Butte or Mt Washington? [Click 1 or 2 times to zoom in on the answer.]
At first I thought the fire started at Suttle Lake and was localized in that area. But, because its name was the B&B Complex fire, it likely started elsewhere, perhaps on the west side of Santiam Pass (elev 4,817').
