Chinook Bend RV Park on the Siletz River, OR
The Waldport, Oregon, bridge on US101 over Alsea Bay and River looking toward the north-west.
As a power boat motors downstream I took a shot of the houses on the northern bank of the Alsea River; the banks appear to be sandstone. Hopefully some knowledgeable geologists were involved in the types of foundations required for the houses.
The co-manager of the Chinook RV Park on the Alsea River suggested I take my laptop with its dead power supply to Staples in Newport. After a stop at the Newport Library, 35 NW Nye St, where I got a map to Staples, I proceeded thereto and bought a new laptop power supply for $70, roughly what I last paid for a half a tank of gas at the Dallas Safeway Fuel Station.
As I left Staples and drove north I realized that I had not taken a photo of the Newport Bridge, which is even bigger than the bridge at Walport; so I doubled back and took the photo above.
The Newport Harbor. If you like to live next to a working harbor, the lot in the foreground is for sale.
Not all of the beaches in Oregon are rocky. Here's one just north of Newport near Spencer Creek which reminds me of some of the Monterey Bay beaches in California.
In addition to discovering and naming Cape Foulweather, Oregon, Captain James Cook also discovered the Sandwich Islands, now the location of our 50th state.
A look south toward the south at Yaquina Head, where a lighthouse is located; since it was called an "historic lighthouse," one may assume that it is no longer in use. [Click 1 or 2 times to zoom in.]
A photo of the condominiums and McMansions between the Devils Punchbowl and Cape Foulweather. But some of the rock formations appear to be manmade.
At one time, if memory serves, there were numerous Harbor Seals along the Pacific coast of North America -- if not the coasts of both North and South America; while there are still seals off of the Oregon Coast, their populations are clearly smaller.
A plaque explaining the birds and animals which may be observed from Cape Foulweather.
